  • Buckingham Palace, built in 1705, has served as the official London residence of the UK's royalty since 1837. 

  • This is where the royal family come out to their balcony to waive to the public during celebrations. 

  • Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms, including 182 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms, perfect for hide and seek. 

  • You can visit inside the residence during summer while the queen vacays at her Windsor castle. 

  • Watch the Changing of the Guard outside the palace, which is one of the oldest ceremonies and starts at 10:45am on most days. When the new group of guards arrive the trumpeters of both the old and new guard sound a royal salute and are sometimes supported by a marching band made up of 35 musicians. This is free.
